Austin, TX, February 16, 2021—Forterro, a group of companies that deliver enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to small- and medium-sized businesses, today announced the appointment of two new executives to lead the company into a new phase of growth in its core market, Europe.
Dean Forbes, a longtime, U.K.-based software executive who was most recently the president of The Access Group, was named Forterro’s chief executive. Paul Smolinski, the former chief financial officer of HR and payroll software firm CoreHR, was named CFO.
I don’t believe in separation. Over the years I have been lucky enough to be considered for many race based accolades. ‘The First Black xxx’ or the ‘top black xxxx’ have all come across my desk at some point and I have always politely declined; for two reasons. Firstly I don’t believe in recognition in this way and secondly because I don’t compete in my profession on irrational criteria like race. I don’t want to be the best black anything. I want to be the best, full stop. However when I was nominated to the Powerlist, I felt quite different and in the wake of some of the negative feedback I’d like to explain why.
Tuesday 17th November 2020. Dean Forbes has been named one of the 100 most influential people of African, African-Caribbean and African-American heritage in the United Kingdom. SEVEN-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton topped the list.
Dean’s drive and determination across a 20 year career in enterprise software and technology has led him to be recognised within the industry as one of Europe’s strongest turn around CEO’s, delivering over $1bn in exit transactions with an average of a 4 x return across three separate transactions.
Davina has been part of FFG from the beginning and will now step up to take ownership of the groups activities alongside existing CEO Danielle Forbes.
‘Davina is literally part of the FFG family and has been pivotal in our early journey so far. We have been inundated with requests, proposals and opportunities so it became necessary to bring on an additional leader so that we can capitalise on the opportunities in front of us’ said Danielle Forbes, CEO.
I am both honoured and humbled at being considered for this prestigious award and would like to express my thanks to Lloyds Bank and Inflexion . I was devastated when my football career didn’t go as planned and had to draw upon determination and resilience to redirect my life and career. Thankfully, I was given an opportunity in the Telco and IT industry by Dean Dennis and I took it with both hands.
